Take Control Now!

The year 2011 has come to an end and many investors are happy to say goodbye to the poor returns on their stock portfolios.  As we move into a new year there is restrained optimism that 2012 will be better than 2011.  Whether your views are bullish or bearish when it comes to the stock market one thing is for certain we are in for some tough and rocky road ahead.

Our government is facing some tough decisions around how to reduce the budget deficit and stimulate the economy and much of what they are proposing will result in less money staying in your pockets at the end of the day.  If you are not aware of the changes on the table let me share a few with you.  For starters the Federal Government has frozen the wages of all government public sector workers for the foreseeable future.  The public sector employees are being told by their unions not to cause waves by demanding too much from their employers.  What this translates to is that they don’t want employees to ask for raises or increased benefits at a time when the economy is weak and hundreds of thousands are out of work.  They want you to accept things as they are until the economy picks up.

There is even talk of taking away some of the items currently covered by OHIP in order to save money.  As I look at what is going on I can’t help but feel for those who are struggling to get by or have recently been relieved of their jobs.  These people through no fault of their own are now forced to look for hand outs from the government or in some cases accepting whatever job they can find at reduced wages.

This is yet one more reason for each and everyone of you to do all that is necessary to secure your financial freedom.  You can’t rely on anyone but yourself, the government will not be there to take care of your future.  They might be able to help you avoid starvation but don’t expect them to help you live the good life during your retirement.  If you want more you will need to take steps to create more in your life and that means you are going to have to do more than you are currently doing.

If you aren’t sure where to begin why not come out and joined a highly motivated group of individuals who understand that financial freedom is theirs for the taking.  Come join us this Saturday in Toronto at the Thornhill Wealth Forum to learn how you can create your life by design.  See below for details to this incredible presentation.  I also would like to share with you that my first book “The Financial Fitness Blueprint”….a practical guide for building your life by design is now complete.  It will be available this summer through IUniverse and I will share more as we get ready for the book launch.

Protecting your Money is your Business

Protecting your Money

This past summer I spent a considerable amount of time traveling and attending seminars on personal development.  The conferences were all excellent.  Not only did I get to meet some incredible conference participants but I made some terrific friends in the process.

I have always been a proponent of personal development because it has opened many doors for me over the years.

However, as I sat on my flight back to the wonderful city of Toronto I started to question just how much training is enough.  You see there are some people who have dubbed themselves seminar junkies and will travel from city to city to hear the next best thing in personal development and life success.

Unfortunately this habit can get you to quickly lose focus of what really matters and that is to create financial freedom by working on your business.  This unfortunately happened to me this summer.  I was chasing promises of the Holy Grail and forgot to keep an eye on my business.  The end result was several thousand dollars being stolen from me by a property manager who not only lacked integrity but has a 50/50 JV partnership with the devil himself.

This manager was paid money to get specific jobs completed on one of my unit.  He would forward invoices claiming the jobs were completed and additional funds were needed to proceed with other work.  As he was recommended by a close friend and realtor I did not second guess his honesty or judgment.  Big mistake!  When it comes to business you must make it your business to keep your eye on your money.  Doing your due diligence should become your priority and obsession especially when it comes to people who will work on your team.

I take full responsibility for the losses that occurred, made corrections along the way and continue to move my life to the next level.  My advice to you is to take care of your business in order to protect your money.  There is a lot of con-artist and dishonest people in the world so stay current with your business and watch it like a hawk.

Remember no one cares more about your money than you do.

If you are having trouble getting your finance in order pick up the phone and give me a call, I can help.

Good investing
